What causes PMS?

The first thing to say about the causes of PMS is that medical science does not really understand why some women suffer physical and/or psychological symptoms each and every month whilst others do not suffer at all. Hence, it is fair to suggest that there is still a reasonable degree of mystery about the exact reasons why some women suffer and others don't.
It is however believed that a primary cause of premenstrual syndrome is the natural change in the balance of female hormones that happens every month as an integral part of the cycle of menstruation. As a result of these natural hormonal changes, there is a reduction in the level of progesterone in the body, are falling off of levels of the hormone that prepares the uterus to receive a fertilized egg.
At the same time, there is also an increase in levels of salt and water retained by the body, hence the feelings of being bloated and retaining too much water.
This does not of course explain exactly why these hormonal changes affect some individuals far more than they affect others. Whilst some experts suggest that all women suffer some symptoms of PMS, in the main these symptoms are mild or extremely mild, so this does not really take us much closer to discovering the course of PMS.
One line of current thinking about the causes suggests that it may be something to do with neurotransmitters that are created by the central nervous system reacting with changing levels of sex hormones which would otherwise be within what are regarded as normal limits by the medical profession.
In particular, it is believed that serotonin levels in the body may have some connection with the severity (or otherwise) of PMS that is suffered by an individual female, although there is no conclusive proof of this as yet.
Preliminary studies carried out in the USA some 20 years ago suggested that of women who suffered PMS most severely, perhaps as many as four in every ten showed significantly decreased levels of beta endorphins in the blood at the time of their ‘attacks’.
Beta endorphins are naturally occurring opioid neurotransmitters, which is one of the reasons why a lack of them as shown by 40% of women who suffered severe PMS has been likened by many medical professionals to withdrawal symptoms associated with ‘coming off’ opiate-based drugs like heroin.
Another possible contributory factor is family history as it is generally believed that women who are from families where more severe PMS is relatively common are more likely to be sufferers themselves. This contention is backed up by the fact that the occurrence of PMS is twice as likely to appear in identical twins than it is in fraternal twins (see previous link for substantiation).
The bottom line is, medical science has still not really established the exact reasons why some women suffer serious psychological and/or physical problems as a result of premenstrual syndrome, whereas others hardly suffer at all.
One thing that is however clear is that there are contributory factors associated with lifestyle and that these factors may increase the risk of suffering severe PMS.
These potential contributory factors include:
• Increased levels of stress and anxiety;
• Pre-existing depression;
• High caffeine intake;
• High alcohol intake;
• Tobacco usage;
• Increasing age (although for most women, PMS is likely to start for the very first time during their 20s or 30s and will probably disappear after they stop menstruating as well);
• Allergies to nuts etc;
• Dietary factors such as a lack of certain vitamins and minerals.
From this list of contributory factors, you can probably see that certain lifestyle changes could help to reduce the severity or the likelihood of PMS being a problem.
We will return to these in detail later after considering how members of the medical profession diagnose premenstrual syndrome.

Remove the Trigger and Stop Headaches Permanently

There are many of us that suffer from headaches regularly and unfortunately, many of us never realize the fact that headaches are actually triggered, they don't just come out of the blue.  There are a number of different things that may be causing headaches in you as an individual but until you are able to discover exactly what is causing the headache and why it is causing it, you will not be able to take care of the problem naturally.  Fortunately, there are a few common triggers that can be identified and if it is difficult to identify, there are some methods that you can use.

Some of the most common triggers come in the form of allergies.  These can either be food allergies, even if you are not thinking that you are having food allergies at all but they may also be coming from allergies that are in the environment around us.  In order for you to overcome these problems, you must be able to identify the allergies that are triggering the headaches.  The easiest way for you to be a do this is to keep a diary of absolutely everything that you do and eat during a day's time, along with any headaches that happen to come up.  It will not take you very long to be able to figure out what needs to be removed in order to remove the triggers that are causing the headaches.

Some of the most common food allergies that you might be having a problem with include such things as sweeteners, artificial sweeteners, caffeine and preservatives.  The unfortunate thing is, these things tend to be in the world around us regularly and it can be very difficult for you to avoid them altogether.  One thing you might want to try is switching to an all-natural diet for a few days which only consists of raw fruits and vegetables.  It may take you about a week, but you should notice your headaches disappearing altogether.

Once you are headache free, you can begin adding things back into your diet gradually and you will be able to tell whenever something needs to be kept away from altogether.  As long as you are headache free, you are fine with the diet that you are eating but as soon as headaches start occurring, it's time to step back a little bit and reevaluate what you're putting into your mouth.

Are Airborne Allergies behind Your Headaches?

We live in a world that certainly is not friendly to the human body in many different ways.  As the environment around us continues to have problems as a result of pollution and other issues that go on because of mankind's misuse of it, many of us are also becoming more susceptible to allergies from the natural things in the environment around us.  In addition to that, the majority of us also have conditions that occur as a result of these allergies in some way or another.  For some individuals, it may be rather light but for others, these allergens can actually cause severe headaches that come, one right after the other.

Although it is impossible for you to move yourself out of the environment that is around you without considerable effort, there may be some things that can be done in order to reduce the effects of these airborne allergens on your internal system.  One of the things that you can do is to make sure that you are doing a nasal rinsing on a daily basis, perhaps several times throughout the day.  Many of us suffer because we have pollen that is stuck in the sinuses, along with other debris from the environment around us.  By flushing our sinuses through nasal rinsing, we are removing those allergens and the effects that they have on the body.

Something else that is very important is for you to make sure that you're sleeping environment is as free of these headache causing allergens as possible.  Run a high quality air filter in your room throughout the day and even while you are sleeping at night.  Many people notice a difference, soon after they start doing this.  Something else that may be necessary is for you to wash your hair immediately before going to bed, giving it enough time to dry, of course.  Our hair tends to act like a pollen collector and if we go to sleep with a pollen in our hair, it will get on the pillow and we will breathe it in throughout the night.

There are a number of other things that you can do, such as making sure that you drink plenty of water and eat a healthy diet, along with getting exercise.  By reducing the amount of contact that you have with the pollen, you have a much better opportunity of overcoming your headaches altogether.

Accupuncture for Headache Relief

They say that desperate times call for desperate measures and for those of us that suffer from chronic headaches, we realize exactly how desperate the situation he can be.  One of the things that many of us want to avoid are the medications that are typically given to us in order to cover over the pain we feel.  It would be a much better thing if we were able to get to the source of the pain and cure it naturally from there.  Instead of looking to modern-day advances to help us with the situation, it may be of assistance if we look far back into the past to a method that was used thousands of years ago.

What I am talking about is acupuncture, a part of ancient Chinese medicine that was developed in order to help the body to be able to heal itself through its own energy.  According to their studies, there was an energy that flowed through everything that existed, including the human body.  Whenever this energy had a free flow, everything was balanced and there were generally no problems that needed to be addressed.  It was only after the energy was blocked or rerouted in some way or another that problems occured.  Many times, this lack of energy in the body is behind the headaches that you are experiencing in some way or another.

What acupuncture does is to reroute the energy that is blocked and to allow it to flow freely to the parts of the body that may be lacking in it.  It helps to restore a balance to the body, not so that he can get rid of something specific but so that the body has the opportunity to use its own healing powers to take care of the problem at its source.  Many individuals have used acupuncture in recent years in order to overcome a number of different problems, including headaches and other pain.

More than likely, there is an acupuncturist in your area who can help you with this situation.  Make an appointment to speak with them and they will be able to tell where the energy is lacking and what needs to be done in order to provide you with the free flow of energy that you need in order to heal yourself.  Although it is thousands of years old in its origin, it is still something that has practical use today for those that suffer from headaches.

The End of Head Pain through Relaxation

Many of us would like to have the time to stop and relax on a regular basis but unfortunately, our hectic lifestyles do not give us the opportunity to do so.  One of the things that may go right along with the lifestyles that we are leading is the fact that we are having headaches on a regular basis.  The unfortunate reality is, unless you are able to get a handle on your stress and to de-fuse from time to time, the headaches are going to be a regular part of your life for sometime to come.

Believe it or not, it is not always necessary for you to get away for days at a time in order to relax enough to get rid of the stress effectively.  As a matter of fact, you can often learn some relaxation techniques that will eventually have you de-stressing within just a few minutes after you start using them.  Here are some of the most effective ways for you to get rid of stress in your life, some of which you can carry with you anywhere you go and others that need to be done in a controlled environment and on a consistent basis.

Exercise is something that all of us should be getting regularly but unfortunately, very few of us do so consistently.  If you exercise, your body will release chemicals into it which will help you to destress at the time you are exercising.  Along with that, you will also have more strength and stamina which goes a long way in helping you to overcome the stress that you are experiencing.  Typically, people that exercise regularly like this are able to reduce the amount of headaches that they have, especially when they are associated directly with stressful situations.

Something else that you can do is to learn how to relax is to meditate properly.  Many of us may picture ourselves sitting in a room with burning candles and repeating some kind of mantra, over and over.  The fact of the matter is, all you really need to do is to be able to dwell on something that is pleasant for a period of time.  If you can do so for a half hour every day, you'll find that you are able to handle the day much better.  You can also use the same technique for just a few minutes whenever life gets too stressful to handle.  It's something very effective that can take care of headaches in many instances and it can be carried with you.

Identifying Your Headaches to Relieve the Pain

There are many different types of headaches that we may experience as individuals and it is imperative that we understand, not only the type of headache that we are experiencing but also why it is that we are experiencing it.  Headaches are not generally a problem, in and of itself but rather, it is the body's response to some form of outside stimuli which triggered the problem.  Being able to identify the triggers can help us to overcome the headaches in many instances and to find natural ways to be able to take care of them.

One type of headache that you may be experiencing is a sinus headache.  Sinus headaches can occur for any number of reasons, such as too much pollution in the air, an increase in allergens, common birth defects which reduce the size and shape of the sinuses or even a bout with the common cold.  Sinus headaches can often be treated effectively if you do nasal rinsing on a regular basis but there may also be secondary things which need to be done, such as running a high quality air filter in the room in which you sleep.  It may even be a case of you needing to wash your hair directly before bed, as often times, pollen stays in the hair and is transferred to the pillow, which is then transferred directly to the nose.

Another type of headache that you may experience is a migraine headache.  Ufortunately, these tend to be much more severe than sinus headaches and at times, they can continue to come on a regular basis.  Many times, allergies are behind a migraine headaches and in order for you to be able to get rid of the headaches, you have to identify the triggers.  Keep a log of absolutely everything that you do in your life on a regular basis, along with whenever the headaches may occur.  Often, you will be able to tell why it is that you are having the headaches after a few days.

Tension headaches are something that many of us also have to deal with regularly.  Not only do we have stress in our lives that were, but many of us also have to deal with stressful situations at home.  Applying heat to the area can help to alleviate the situation but in order to get rid of them totally, you need to learn how to handle the stress in your life.  Although it is easier said than done, by learning some effective coping techniques you may be able to reduce your stress and your tension headaches, right along with it.

The Effect of Aromatherapy on Head Pain

There are a number of different things that you can do which can help to alleviate headaches.  One that is often overlooked, however, is aromatherapy and you would probably be surprised with exactly how effective this particular technique can be.  The real secret lies in understanding why aromatherapy works so that you can make wise decisions along the way.  If you're able to do so, you can often use this technique to remove your headaches rather quickly and whenever you do it regularly, you may be able to stop the headaches from occurring in the first place.

The first thing that you need to understand is that not all aromatherapy products are created equal.  As a matter of fact, some of them contain dangerous chemicals on the inside and although they may smell good, you are, in effect taking bad things into your body.  Some people even have violent reactions as a result of some of these aromatherapy products, including headaches.  The last thing that you would want to do is to make your headaches worse in an effort to make them better.  Always make sure that you are using all-natural aromatherapy products and that you test them completely before jumping the whole way in with both feet.

Some of the most effective scents that you could use for aromatherapy would include such things as chamomile, rose hip and lavender.  There are also many others that you may want to try, as experimentation is one of the best ways for you to discover exactly which ones you should be using.  There may also be times whenever you can utilize two or more of these at the same time in order to increase the effects.  Again, trial and error is one of the best things as far as this is concerned.

You can either sit in a room with these aromatherapy products and relax for a while, something that most of us do or you can also get proactive with them.  For example, if you are able to use these aromatherapy products in conjunction with the massage, perhaps even mixed with the massage oils, you can increase the amount of relaxation that you experience and reduce the amount of headaches that you have even further.  It's just another thing to keep in mind which may help you to be able to get rid of your headaches, once and for all.

The Effects of Neck and Shoulder Tension on the Human Body

Since you are, more than likely, reading this on a computer I want to do a little bit of an experiment with you.  As of right now, freeze in your current position and did not move a muscle until you finish reading this paragraph.  If you have been sitting at the computer reading for quite some time, more than likely you are hunched forward in your chair and you may be straining your neck in order to get your eyeballs a little bit closer to the computer screen.  It is also possible that your shoulders are hunched up, as if you were shrugging them.  If this is true, you may have just discovered why you are experiencing headaches.

All of us tend to be in that position from time to time, especially if we are on the computer regularly.  The real problems come because we tend to stay in that position for an extended period of time and it can cause considerable muscle tension that will end up with a pounding headache.  We may also be experiencing eye strain from using the computer regularly, something that we may not even recognize until it is too late.  If you would like to be able to get rid of the headaches that you are experiencing, without reducing the amount of time that you're on the computer, here is a trick that will help you to do so.

Go to the store and get yourself a two dollar egg timer.  Set it beside your computer and turn it on for either 30 or 60 minutes.  Whenever the egg timer goes off, no matter what it is that you are doing, get up out of your chair and allow your shoulders to relax.  Spend about 60 seconds looking at anything except for the computer screen and perhaps take this opportunity to do some light stretching exercises.  Not only will you be more aware whenever you sit down at the computer again, you will also have relieved much of the tension that may have been building up in your neck and shoulder area.

Whenever you do this regularly, you will begin to notice far fewer headaches as a result of the tension that is in your neck and shoulders.  It becomes a habit after awhile, one that you will welcome whenever the timer goes off.  Most people who do this not only find that they are more productive as a result, they also are able to work longer because of less headaches that they are experiencing.

Stress Management to End Headaches

How many of us have to deal with stress on a daily basis?  There is no doubt that all of us have to go through these situations, regardless of what our lot is in life.  If we have to work regularly, we probably experience a great deal of stress as a result of that work and if we stay at home, our home life can also provide us with stress in various forms.  Unfortunately, the stress that we experience can not only have the mental effect on us but it can also affect us in a physical way, especially if the stress is allowed to go unchecked.

It is difficult to number the amount of people who are dealing with headaches as a result of stress in their lives.  One of the reasons why this is the case is because many of the headaches either go unchecked or they are blamed on something else, even whenever stress is the trigger which causes them to happen.  That is why it is important for you to remove the stress from your life whenever possible and if not possible, at least to be able to cope with that to the extent that it does not affect your health negatively.

I'm sure that the majority of you would love to be able to remove all of the stress from your life at one time but the unfortunate fact of life is, stress is something that we are going to have to put up with regularly.  That is why coping techniques are the only viable solution for many of us when it comes to dealing with the stress that we are under.  These coping techniques can take on a number of different forms, but finding the one that is most effective for you is what is going to help you to be able to deal with it.

Some of the first places that you can look for stress management include watching what you eat daily, getting some exercise and making sure that you get plenty of sleep.  You may also want to try meditating on a daily basis, giving your mind the opportunity to dwell on relaxing things for a while.  I find that this is most beneficial whenever I first get up in the morning.  There are a number of other things that you can do to relieve your stress but you will find that once you have successfully learned how to cope with it, you will be able to say goodbye to many of the headaches that you experience.

Smoking, Drinking and Headache Problems

There are a number of different vices that are very common among humans, smoking and overdrinking being two of them.  The unfortunate thing is, these two things, although there are considered enjoyable by those that do them are some of the worst things that you can possibly do for your health.  Although either of them might be okay whenever they were done in moderation, they tend to be done to excess and that is where the problems really occur.  One of the issues that you may be experiencing by smoking and drinking too much is headaches, and that makes either of these pastimes not worth the effort.

Smoking is probably behind more headaches than almost any other vice that we have as individuals.  It constricts the blood vessels and cuts off the flow of oxygen to the extremities of the body to a certain extent.  It is also constantly putting chemicals into our body that certainly can damage it in a number of different ways.  To put it plainly, smoking is not good for you and this is a fact that many of us can attest to, even those of those that smoke regularly.  Fortunately, many of the headaches that you receive as a result of smoking can be stopped, simply by giving up the habit.  That is easier said than done, as most of us can attest to as well.

Drinking too much can not only cause headaches as a result of a hangover, it can also cause headaches in us as a result of the poisoning effect that it has on the body.  A little bit of alcohol is not going to hurt you and as a matter of fact, it may have benefits for the human body, such as increased circulation and a gentle cleansing.  Over drinking, on the other hand, causes a whole host of problems in the human body which includes headaches.

If you enjoy drinking, simply moderating the amount that you drink on a regular basis might be enough to stop the headaches that are occurring.  If you are having headaches as a result of a buildup of toxins in the body from drinking, it might be necessary for you to abstain completely from alcohol for a little while until your body has the opportunity to cleanse itself completely.  These are just two things that might be causing your headaches, but they are two things that are avoidable.

Exercise Your Headaches Away

There are very few people who never experience headaches and for those fortunate few, they really don't have any idea what the rest of us are going through on a regular basis.  The unfortunate fact of the matter is, far too many of us experience headaches and at times we may have them chronically.  Many of us have tension headaches regularly as a result of stress in our lives and others may have such problems as sinus headaches or even migraines that occur one after the other.  Although there are specific things that can be done for each type of headache, something that tends to work for almost any of these conditions is exercise.

I'm going to speak quite candidly here, very few of us feel like exercising whenever we are in the middle of a headache.  To be quite honest, that is the worst time that you could exercise, anyway.  The type of exercise that I'm talking about is exercise that is done whenever you're feeling okay and it can provide the body with a number of different benefits that can help to reduce the amount of headaches that you experience regularly.  Here are some of the reasons why that is the case.

First of all, exercise, when it is done properly, is going to give you some short-term benefits that can help to alleviate stress and to make you feel good.  It does this in the form of chemicals that it releases into the body which are known as endorphins.  It is these endorphins that make people who exercise regularly continue to come back for more, even when those of us that don't exercise would consider it to be abuse.  The way to release these endorphins, however, is by exercising for 20 minutes at a stretch with an elevated heart rate.

Another reason why exercise can help to remove headaches from our lives completely is because it brings a balance to the body that is often lacking.  Many headaches can be directly traced back to an imbalance inside of the body of some sort or another.  Whenever we are able to sort the situation out, it removes many of the problems that occur as a result of it.  That is why exercise can certainly help you to get rid of the headaches that you are experiencing for the long-term.  When you exercise regularly, you may just live headache free for the rest of your life.

Apply Heat on Your Neck and Relieve the Tension

Apply Heat on Your Neck and Relieve the Tension

Many of us that suffer from headaches do not necessarily suffer in the same way as others.  For example, one of the more common types of headaches are tension headaches and these can come along for any variety of reasons.  Many of us have these headaches in the back of our head and they can generally be related to tension that is felt throughout the neck and shoulder areas.  One of the best things that you can possibly do in order to alleviate these tension headaches is to apply some heat to the general area.

One of the most effective ways for you to do this is to do it in the shower.  The unfortunate thing is, many of us do not have the availability of a shower whenever we are in the middle of one of the tension headaches that we experience.  Often, we have these headaches at work and the last thing that we are able to do whatever we are working is stop to take a shower.  If, however, you happened to experience one of these headaches whenever you have the availability of a shower, standing underneath the hot water and allowing it to run down over your neck and shoulders can really go a long way in helping to relieve the situation.

Applying heat in other ways to the area can also help, such as having a warm compress or using a hot water bottle.  Although it is not as effective as allowing water to run over the area, it can help to relieve some of the tension that is felt in these muscles.  Many times, it is not necessarily the tension in the muscles that cause the headache but it is something that builds on itself and makes the headache worse.  By relieving this additional pressure off of the area, we can usually make the headache manageable and perhaps even get rid of it altogether.

Regardless of whether you use a shower or a hot water bottle, one of the best things you can possibly do is to take care of the situation as quickly as possible.  Tension headaches may start out small and we might actually ignore them for quite some time until we are unable to ignore them any longer.  It is during this time that the tension really mounts and our muscles tighten, making it difficult to get rid of the problem when it reaches this point.  That is why it is better if you treat it quickly rather than allowing it to go untreated.

Avoiding Headache Triggers in the Form of Allergies

We live in a world that is becoming increasingly polluted and unfriendly for the human body.  This is not only true in the general environment in which we live, it is also true in many cases with the types of foods that we have available for us as well.  The preservatives that are used in these foods are often something that breaks down the human body from the inside out and other issues, such as genetic manipulation of fruits and vegetables can also cause us considerable problems.  Unfortunately, this is led to an epidemic of allergies that many of us are experiencing regularly and the headaches that go along with them cause many of us to suffer considerably.

If you are having headaches as a result of allergies, you need to understand that the headaches are not really a problem, it is the fact that you are triggering the headaches by putting things into your body that it is trying to reject.  This is the case with food allergies, something that many of us suffer from and may not even recognize.  Some of the more common food allergies include dairy, preservatives, sweeteners (especially artificial sweeteners) and shellfish.  Even if we have a slight allergy to these that is not immediately recognized whenever we eat them, they can cause a headache to come along later on in the day and it can be difficult to trace it back to the specific trigger.

In order to overcome this situation, you need to be able to identify the things that are triggering the headaches and remove them from your diet.  This often requires that you keep a log of everything that you eat, along with the way that you feel.  Don't be surprised if the headaches occur several hours after you eat something that is triggering it.  Just be aware that almost anything you eat could be the culprit, so be ready to remove it from your diet.

Another allergy problem that can easily trigger headaches is from pollen.  That is why many of us suffer from headaches on a seasonal basis and we can almost mark the calendar as to when those headaches are going to start.  As long as you can avoid the pollen whenever possible, by running a high quality air filter in your bedroom and washing your hair before bed, you will be able to ease the amount of suffering that you receive as a result of the pollen and the headaches will be few and far between.

Can Weight Loss Cure Your Headaches?

You would probably be surprised with the number of individuals who are suffering from headaches as a result of carrying around too much weight.  One of the reasons why this is the case is because very few individuals recognize the fact that obesity, or even just carrying around a little bit of extra fat can harm the human body considerably.  It not only puts a lot of wear and tear on the joints, it can also throw us out of balance on the inside and this can lead to headaches.

That is why it is important for you to make sure that you are watching your weight and eating healthily on a regular basis.  This is especially true if you suffer from headaches regularly and cannot identify what it is that is causing them.  The weight loss that you experience can go a long way in helping you to reduce those headaches and a healthy diet that you are eating is also going to help you to be balanced and to reduce those headaches even further.  Try eating raw fruits and vegetables with every meal, even if you don't make them the bulk of your daily diet.  The anti-inflammatory properties of those food items can go a long way in helping you to reduce head pain.

Another thing that you can do which not only assist you in being able to lose weight, it often removes headaches very quickly is to exercise regularly.  This exercise can either be cardiovascular or it can be weight lifting, preferably a mixture of the two.  After exercising for 20 minutes straight, your body will release endorphins into it which can help to reduce your headaches considerably.  It will also boost your metabolism and improve your circulation, two things that can help you to lose weight and can remove headaches on their own.

The unfortunate thing is, it is not going to be easy for you to lose weight, especially if you have been carrying it around for a long time.  I would suggest that you resist the urge to buy prepackaged foods that claim to be able to help you to lose the weight, simply because many of the preservatives that are in these foods are headache triggers for many individuals.  All that is really necessary is that you need a clean diet and get some exercise.  You will notice a difference in the weight on your body and you will suffer from far fewer headaches, not long after you start.

Is a Lack of Sleep behind Your Headaches?

Of all of the different things that we need in order to be as healthy as possible, sleep is something that is generally left to chance.  Most of us need anywhere from eight to nine hours of solid sleep every night in order to do our best but unfortunately, we tend to get anywhere from five to six hours of sleep if we are fortunate.  A lot of us feel as if we are able to do this without any repercussions but more than likely, you are experiencing some and blaming them on something else.  A good example of this is if you are having headaches regularly, as this can easily be attributed to a lack of sleep.

You have two options as far as improving the amount of time that you are sleeping is concerned.  The first option is to take the time out of your day, every day in order to get enough sleep.  Don't think that you can cut back on the hours that you are sleeping during the week and then catch up on the weekend.  It does work to a certain extent, but the sleep debt that you are building up is going to really hurt you and your health.  If at all possible, make sure that you get enough sleep and go to sleep every night at the same time.  This will help you to wake refreshed and can cut down on the number of headaches you are having.

Another thing that you can do is to get more quality sleep, even if you're not able to get more of a quantity of sleep.  There are a number of different ways for you to achieve this but one of the best is for you to exercise regularly and eat a proper diet.  If you are healthy on the inside, it will go a long way to helping you to get the most out of the sleep that you get every night.  Even if you don't increase the amount of sleep that you're getting, taking care of yourself can make a difference in your quality of sleep and the amount of headaches that you have.

There are a number of other things that you can do which can improve the quality of your sleep.  Preparing in advance for a good night's sleep is one of those, along with making sure that you have the proper environment in order to achieve deep sleep.  It may take a little bit of adjustment on your part but that adjustment will be well worth it whenever you start to see the health benefits of doing so and the headaches disappear.

Managing Eye Strain and Headache Problems

Do you work at a computer on a regular basis?  If you do, you probably suffer from headaches from time to time as a result of eye strain.  There are also a number of other reasons why individuals that work on computers regularly suffer from headaches and in order for you to overcome those headaches, you really have two different choices.  You can either stop working on the computer, which is not an option for many of us or you can alter the way that you work on the computer, which is something that any of us can do.

As far as eye strain is concerned, there are a few different things that can be done which can alleviate the strain and reduce the amount of headaches that you get.  If you're having a difficult time seeing the screen, it might be necessary for you to get glasses or to change your prescription so that you can see it more clearly.  It is also possible for you to get a magnifier for the screen or perhaps to increase the font size on the screen so they do not have to strain in order to see it.

Another problem that is directly related to this is that many of us that work on the computer tend to find ourselves hunched forward with our shoulders shrugged around our neck.  This is an absolutely horrible thing that you do to your body and it can certainly cause headaches very quickly.  Unfortunately, many of us tend to do this because it gets additional heat and blood to the brain, allowing us to think a little bit harder.  That is why we often find ourselves in this position whenever we are troubleshooting.

The way that we can solve either of these problems and in many cases, overcome the headaches that we are experiencing is by getting up and moving around on a regular basis.  If you work at the computer for extended periods of time, set a timer for yourself that will go off every 30 to 60 minutes.  When the timer goes off, no matter what it is that you are doing, get up and stretch.  Stretch your neck muscles, relax your shoulders and allow yourself to look at something other than the computer screen for a minute or two.  Believe it or not, this is all that is generally necessary in order to overcome the headaches that are associated with computer use.

There are a number of different problems that we experience on a regular basis, some of which can be considered to be rather mild and others that are life altering.  Whenever you have headaches that are chronic, this certainly falls under the category of being life altering and it is something that all of us will enjoy being able to get rid of.  The unfortunate thing is, the majority of us are suffering headaches and have absolutely no idea why it is that we are suffering them in the first place.  In many cases, believe it or not, it can actually be traced back to a problem with dehydration.

This may come as a bit of a shock to you, especially if you have gone to numerous doctors who are really unable to do anything more than give you something to mask the pain.  The reason why the medical profession as a whole does not recognize how much of a problem dehydration is, is because there is no money in it for them.  If you were to go to a doctor and they were to tell you that you need to drink water in order to get better, they would have a hard time justifying charging you the amount that they charge you.  Not only that, if they solve your dehydration, they would probably lose you as a patient because you would not need the services of a doctor any longer.

Hydrating the body is not difficult to do but it is going to take some persistence on your part in order to accomplish it.  The basic formula for hydrating yourself is to drink half of your body weight every day in ounces of water.  Along with that, you are going to need to take a pinch of sea salt from time to time in order to allow the water to stay in your body long enough to work its magic.  The salt can either be put directly into the water that you are drinking or you can put a pinch under your tongue, my personal favorite way of doing it.

The beauty of hydrating yourself is the fact that it can not only get rid of headaches quickly, it can really help you to feel your very best which is something that you may have been missing out on for quite some time.  Why not get a glass of water and start hydrating yourself now?  You may be able to start feeling better by tomorrow.
